Planing the board prior to jointing
This process gives a predictable thickness for the edge grain boards. Some boards use different thicknesses to vary the look of the board.
Jointer
This creates a 90 degree surface for an excellent glue joint.
Sawing
The fence provides uniform thickness in the process prior to the glue-up.
